The Apaches’ defense led by Aldaberto Mada proved too much for the Panthers

TUCSON — Nogales jump out to a quick 20-0 1st half lead on Amphitheater and made that lead stand up for a 20-7 victory at Flowing Wells’ Mead Athletic Arena to begin the 2026 high school football season.
Amphi played their home opener on their arch rivals’ field while renovation at Friedli Field are being completed.
The game was delayed an hour due to weather.
The Apaches tallied all of their points on the ground thanks to touchdown runs by Andrik Pimienta, Santiago Damon and Christopher Martinez.
It was the 4th straight win for the Apaches in the series although Amphi still leads 12-10-1 all-time.
Nogales will host Santa Cruz County rival Rio Rico next Friday night while the Panthers return to Flowing Wells for the 34th Battle of Prince Road.
