Utah defenseman Sean Durzi drew a $5,000 fine Monday for head-butting Vegas defenseman Rasmus Andersson on Sunday night.
The incident occurred during a scrum late in the first period in the Golden Knights’ 4-2 home win over the Mammoth in Game 1 of their Western Conference first-round playoff series.
Durzi received a two-minute minor penalty for roughing on the play. He later assisted on Utah’s go-ahead goal in the second period before Vegas scored three unanswered goals in the third to win it.
Durzi, 27, recorded 27 points (five goals, 22 assists) and 50 penalty minutes in 60 games during the regular season.
Game 2 of the best-of-seven series is Tuesday night in Las Vegas.
