Texans 2nd-rounder Jayden Higgins makes history with guaranteed deal
That would make Higgins the first second-round pick ever to receive a fully guaranteed contact. He'll receive a signing bonus of just more than $5.1 million.
Higgins, from Iowa State, was selected 34th overall in last month's NFL draft and was the second pick of the second round. He was the fourth receiver taken.
The 6-foot-4, 214-pound Higgins has a solid chance to make an impact as a rookie after the offseason departure of Stefon Diggs and the serious knee injury sustained last season by Tank Dell. Nico Collins will he Houston's top receiver.
Higgins caught 87 passes for 1,183 yards and nine touchdowns last season and received multiple All-American honors for Iowa State. As a junior, he caught 53 passes for 983 yards and six scores.
Higgins also played two seasons for FCS program Eastern Kentucky. He caught 13 touchdown passes for the Colonels, 10 coming as a sophomore before his transfer to Iowa State.
In the third round, Houston selected Jaylin Noel, the Cyclones' co-star wideout along with Higgins.

NFL to announce international games, select others prior to schedule release
NBC will take to "The Today Show" on Monday to announce a games on the network. FOX and Prime Video also will announce a few games on that day, while ESPN will do the same on ABC's "Good Morning America" on Tuesday.
CBS and Netflix will follow suit on Wednesday, ahead of the full schedule that will be unveiled at 8 p.m. ET.
In addition, the league announced that the designated visiting teams for the international games will be revealed on NFL Network on Tuesday.
The home teams for international games already have been revealed, with the Los Angeles Chargers playing in Sao Paulo, Brazil, in Week 1.
The NFL's first regular-season game in Brazil was played at the same venue last season between the Philadelphia Eagles and Green Bay Packers. The site was used during the 2014 FIFA World Cup and 2016 Summer Olympic Games, and the league felt it was important to return to the home of what the NFL said is its second-largest international fan base after Mexico.
Other home teams for international games: The Indianapolis Colts will play in Berlin, Germany, the Miami Dolphins in Madrid, Spain, the Pittsburgh Steelers in Dublin, Ireland, and the Jacksonville Jaguars, Cleveland Browns and New York Jets in London.

Panthers place RB Jonathon Brooks on PUP list, out for 2025
Brooks' move to the PUP list means he's out for the entire 2025 season.
Carolina's rushing attack last year was led by Chuba Hubbard.
Signed to a four-year, $33.2 million contract extension in November, Hubbard recorded career-high totals in rushing yards (1,195), rushing touchdowns (10) and catches (43) in 15 games (all starts) last season.
Brooks saw his rookie season come to an end after just three games and nine total carries following his right knee injury during the Panthers' 22-16 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles on Dec. 8.
On a first-quarter run, Brooks planted his right foot in an attempt to cut to the outside and went down with a non-contact injury. He tried to limp off the field but had to be helped to the sideline.
A second-round draft pick out of Texas, Brooks still was recovering from ACL surgery on the same knee when the 2024 season began. His previous ACL injury occurred in the Longhorns' victory over TCU in November 2023.
Brooks, 21, made his NFL debut on Nov. 24 against the Kansas City Chiefs and gained 7 yards on two carries. He gained 18 yards on six carries the following week against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers before he was injured on his lone carry in Philadelphia.

Reports: Panthers releasing pass-rusher Jadeveon Clowney
Clowney, the No. 1 pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, turned 32 in February and carries a $13.8 million cap hit in 2025.
The Panthers can save about $7.8 million by cutting the three-time Pro Bowl selection.
Clowney tallied 5.5 sacks, 11 quarterback hits and 46 tackles in 14 starts in his only season with Carolina in 2024.
He has 58 sacks, 139 QB hits, 15 forced fumbles, nine fumble recoveries (three for touchdowns) and 409 tackles (108 for loss) in 140 games (127 starts) with the Houston Texans (2014-18), Seattle Seahawks (2019), Tennessee Titans (2020), Cleveland Browns (2021-22), Baltimore Ravens (2023) and Panthers.
Drafted first overall by the Texans in 2014, Clowney made three straight Pro Bowls from 2016-18. He signed a two-year, $20 million deal with Carolina in March 2024.
The Panthers picked Texas A&M edge rusher Nic Scourton in the second round and Ole Miss edge rusher Princely Umanmielen in the third round of the 2025 NFL Draft last month.

Dolphins' Tyreek Hill undergoes second wrist procedure of offseason
Hill had his wrist repaired early this offseason with a procedure that included having screws placed in the joint. According to a post Wednesday on Hill's Snapchat account, Hill needed the second surgery to get those screws removed and he announced it "went amazing," as reported by NFL Network Insider Tom Pelissero.
Hill played through a ligament issue throughout last season, according to Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel, but played all 17 regular-season games. After piling up 119 catches and a league-high 1,799 receiving yards in 2023, Hill's numbers slipped to 81 and 959, respectively, last season. He also was not invited to the Pro Bowl for the first time.
McDaniel told reporters in February at the NFL scouting combine that Hill likely won't return to football activity until close to training camp. Pelissero reported the surgery was expected and the timetable has not changed.

Seahawks bring back veteran DT Johnathan Hankins
Hankins, 33, played in all 17 games with eight starts and made 30 tackles, one sack, five tackles for loss and one interception in his first season in Seattle in 2024.
"Being here last year, the success we had, the group we had defensively, and now we have D-Law (DeMarcus Lawrence) here, and some more key guys -- we drafted a D-tackle -- I just feel comfortable here," Hankins said. "I like it here. Everything made sense. To be able to still be playing in Year 13, and obviously the organization wanted me back, so it just made sense."
In addition to adding four-time Pro Bowler Lawrence, the Seahawks' defensive linemen include Leonard Williams, Jarran Reed and Byron Murphy II.
"This guy is a heck of a player," Seahawks coach Mike Macdonald said recently of Hankins. "We're excited to get him back. I wouldn't say it's a major void because we have guys that can play in the A gap, but, yeah, when you watch tape last year, he played some pretty dang good football for us. Excited to get him back."
Hankins has 433 career tackles with 18.5 sacks, 44 tackles for loss, 52 quarterback hits, three forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries and one interception in 169 games (142 starts) for the New York Giants (2013-16), Indianapolis Colts (2017), Oakland/Las Vegas Raiders (2018-22), Dallas Cowboys (2022-23) and Seahawks.
The Giants selected Hankins in the second round of the 2013 NFL Draft out of Ohio State.

In NFL first, Rams to hold minicamp in Maui
The Rams' "Mauicamp," as it's being billed, will be held June 16-19 at War Memorial Stadium in Wailuku.
The Rams made the announcement at their practice facility alongside Hawaii Gov. Josh Green.
"We are thrilled to return to Hawaii and for the first time in the NFL bring Minicamp to Maui," Rams president Kevin Demoff said. "Los Angeles and Hawaii share a special relationship and we are grateful to HTA for teaming with us for this historic partnership."
The Rams played a preseason game in Maui in August 2019 against the Dallas Cowboys, the first time that had happened since 1976.
The Rams will hold on-field sessions on June 17 and 18, with the 17th being invite-only through HTA. The 18th will be free and open to the public, though a ticket is required. Maui County residents have access to an exclusive presale beginning Friday.
"Rams players will feel the warm aloha and hospitality of our islands once again, and in turn, the team will uplift members of the community that have endured so much since the 2023 Maui wildfires," Green said.
Also part of Mauicamp, the Rams will hold a series of events as well, including a girls flag football and boys football clinic for 400 local student-athletes and a PLAY 60 Field Day for local children.

Colts DE Samson Ebukam expects to return for training camp
Ebukam, who turns 30 on Friday, sustained the injury during a training camp practice last July.
He started all 17 games and led the Colts with a career-high 9.5 sacks in 2023. He also set career highs with 57 tackles (10 for loss) and 17 quarterback hits for Indianapolis in 2023.
Ebukam was entering his eighth NFL season and second with Indianapolis when he got hurt, having previously played with the Los Angeles Rams (2017-20) and San Francisco 49ers (2021-22).
Selected in the fourth round by Los Angeles in 2017, Ebukam has tallied 281 tackles, 33 sacks and 69 quarterback hits over 113 games (78 starts).
Ebukam also has 11 forced fumbles and five career fumble recoveries, including one for a touchdown. He returned his lone career interception 25 yards for a touchdown in 2018.

George Pickens trade has minor impact on Cowboys, Steelers futures
The only impact at the book was Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott moving from +2500 to +2000 to lead the NFL in regular-season passing yards in 2025.
BetMGM likewise did not shift the futures for either team, with the Steelers remaining at +4000 and the Cowboys at +6600.
Dallas remains +2500 to win the NFC Championship and +700 to win the NFC East at BetRivers, where the Cowboys are behind the defending Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles (-157) and the Washington Commanders (+220) and ahead of only the New York Giants (+2500).
While Prescott's odds to win the passing yardage title shortened, he remains tied with the ninth-shortest odds. The current favorite is Cincinnati's Joe Burrow at +600, followed by Kansas City's Patrick Mahomes (+700) and Buffalo's Josh Allen (+1000).
A NEW STAR IN DALLAS?
The Cowboys had been rumored to be interested in Pickens, and ultimately gave up a third-round pick for the former second-round selection. The 24-year-old had become disgruntled in Pittsburgh, where DK Metcalf was acquired this offseason to be the team's No. 1 receiver.
Dallas also has a clear No. 1 in Lamb, but the depth chart had been precariously thin beyond that. Lamb had 66 more targets last season than the next closest member of the team (tight end Jake Ferguson). He led the club in catches (101) and receiving yards (1,194) to go along with six touchdowns.
Jalen Tolbert, explosive return man KaVontae Turpin and 2024 midseason acquisition Jonathan Mingo are among those who are expected to now compete for snaps as the third receiver.
Pickens provides Prescott with a proven downfield playmaker as he comes off a season in which he caught 59 passes for 900 yards with three touchdowns in 14 games. He has one season remaining on his rookie contract and is slated to become a free agent next March.
Pickens recently appeared to be distancing himself from the Steelers, notably unfollowing the team on social media.
Pittsburgh coach Mike Tomlin told reporters in January of Pickens that "there's certainly, obviously more room for growth there."
Pickens has 174 receptions for 2,841 yards with 12 scores in 48 career games since being selected by the Steelers in the second round of the 2022 NFL Draft.

Reports: Eagles TE Dallas Goedert agrees to reworked deal
ESPN reported that Goedert's new deal is for $10 million with the opportunity to earn $1 million more via incentives. He was slated to earn $14.25 million in the final season of the four-year, $57 million extension he signed in November 2021.
"Dallas is a heck of a player -- a heck of a player, a heck of a person," Eagles general manager Howie Roseman said when asked about Goedert after the 2025 NFL Draft, per the Philadelphia Inquirer.
"Certainly don't want to do anything publicly where we're discussing anyone's business, but I have so much respect for him. Been to two Super Bowls together and obviously would love him on this team."
Goedert, 30, had 42 catches for 496 yards and two touchdowns while playing in a career-low 10 games this past season because of injuries, including a stint on injured reserve to recover from a hamstring strain.
He added 17 receptions for 215 yards and a score in the playoffs, helping the Eagles capture their second Super Bowl title in franchise history.
Goedert has totaled 349 catches for 4,085 yards and 24 touchdowns in 93 career games (76 starts) since being selected by the Eagles in the second round of the 2018 NFL Draft out of South Dakota State.

Jaguars cut WR Gabe Davis, take $20.3M cap hit
Davis signed a three-year, $39 million contract in March 2024. His $1.5 million salary for 2025 and $10 million signing bonus were fully guaranteed, however, per ESPN.
He caught 20 passes for 239 yards and two touchdowns in 10 games (nine starts) last season before sustaining a torn meniscus in his left knee on Nov. 17 in a 52-6 loss to the Detroit Lions.
The Jaguars also parted ways with fellow wide receiver Christian Kirk in March, trading to him the Houston Texans. Jacksonville then moved up three spots to No. 2 in the 2025 NFL Draft last month and selected versatile receiver/defensive back Travis Hunter out of Colorado.
Second-year receiver Brian Thomas Jr. set franchise rookie records in catches (87) and receiving yards (1,282) in 2024.
Davis, 26, had 163 catches for 2,730 yards and 27 touchdowns in 64 games (47 starts) with the Buffalo Bills. He was selected by the Bills in the fourth round of the 2020 NFL Draft out of UCF.

Report: Cowboys acquiring WR George Pickens from Steelers
Per the report, the trade is expected to include a third-round draft pick and likely will be completed later on Wednesday.
The Cowboys had been seeking another star wideout to pair with four-time Pro Bowl selection CeeDee Lamb.
This reported move comes approximately six months after Dallas acquired wide receiver Jonathan Mingo and a seventh-round pick of the 2025 NFL Draft from the Carolina Panthers in exchange for a fourth-round selection in the same draft.
The Steelers, in turn, acquired wide receiver DK Metcalf from the Seattle Seahawks on March. 9. The two-time Pro Bowler then signed a four-year, $132 million deal with Pittsburgh.
Pickens, 24, had 59 catches for 900 yards with three touchdowns in 14 games last season. He has one season remaining on his rookie contract is slated to become a free agent next March.
Pickens, however, appeared to be distancing himself from the Steelers, notably unfollowing the team on social media.
Pickens has 174 receptions for 2,841 yards with 12 scores in 48 career games since being selected by Pittsburgh in the second round of the 2022 NFL Draft.

Chiefs OT Josh Simmons, first-round pick, signs rookie deal
The team made the agreement with the 32nd overall pick official with a photo of Simmons signing the document.
Spotrac reported the contract is fully guaranteed and comes with a $7.3 million signing bonus. As is standard for first-round picks, the contract includes a fifth-year team option.
Simmons is working back to full health in hopes of becoming a major piece of the reconfigured puzzle that is Kansas City's offensive line in 2025. He was hand-selected by head coach Andy Reid -- himself a former offensive lineman and OL coach -- who endorsed Simmons as a "true left tackle" based on his game film at San Diego State and Ohio State.
Chiefs left guard Joe Thuney was traded to the Chicago Bears in March, when Kansas City signed former San Francisco 49ers tackle Jaylon Moore. The Chiefs used the franchise tag to retain right guard Trey Smith, and 2024 second-round pick Kingsley Suamataia could work his way onto a role with the front five.
Simmons was the eighth offensive lineman taken in the first round of the 2025 draft.
Simmons, 22, tore his left patellar tendon in October and missed Ohio State's push to the national championship.
"I think everyone knows that when he's healthy and with the tape he had early on last year before the injury, it puts him in the upper echelon of what he could be as a future starter and difference-maker at left tackle," Chiefs GM Brett Veach said last month. "Had it not been for that injury, he's probably not there."

Report: Bengals S Geno Stone agrees to reduced deal
Originally slated to earn $6.475 million, Stone instead will make $4.9 million with $1.5 million guaranteed.
Stone, 26, signed a two-year, $14 million deal with Cincinnati in free agency in March 2024 after four seasons in Baltimore.
He started all 17 games last season and tallied 81 tackles and four interceptions, returning one for a touchdown.
Stone has 12 interceptions and 208 tackles in 68 career games (36 starts) with the Ravens (2020-23) and Bengals.

Cardinals add veteran Josiah Deguara for depth at tight end
He joins a tight end room led by 2024 Pro Bowl selection Trey McBride and reserves including veterans Travis Vokolek and Elijah Higgins, and rookie Oscar Cardenas, signed as a free agent after last month's draft.
Deguara, 28, has 50 receptions on 61 targets for 450 yards and two touchdowns in 65 regular-season games over parts of five seasons with the Green Bay Packers (2020-23) and Jacksonville Jaguars (2024).
He caught all three of his targets for 14 yards in 15 games with the Jaguars. He also played a career-high 62 percent of special teams snaps (243). He has taken 939 offensive snaps and 802 special teams snaps in his career.
Green Bay selected Deguara in the third round of the 2020 NFL Draft.

Ravens release K Justin Tucker
"Sometimes football decisions are incredibly difficult, and this is one of those instances. Considering our current roster, we have made the tough decision to release Justin Tucker," Ravens executive vice president and general manager Eric DeCosta said in a statement Monday.
"Justin created many significant and unforgettable moments in Ravens history. His reliability, focus, drive, resilience and extraordinary talent made him one of the league's best kickers for over a decade. We are grateful for Justin's many contributions while playing for the Ravens. We sincerely wish him and his family the very best in this next chapter of their lives."
Tucker, 35, is a seven-time Pro Bowler and five-time All-Pro first teamer who is coming off the worst of his 13 seasons, all with the Ravens. His issues go beyond the field, however.
He is accused of engaging in inappropriate behavior with several female massage therapists. Sixteen women have accused Tucker of misconduct at eight high-end spas in the Baltimore area from 2012-16. Tucker has twice publicly denied the allegations.
Team president Sashi Brown had previously said the Ravens would not decide on Tucker's future with the team until the NFL's investigation was complete.
However, the Ravens then spent a sixth-round pick in last month's draft on former Arizona kicker Tyler Loop, making Tucker's future in Baltimore seem less certain.
Loop kicked for the first time at the team's facility in Owings Mills, Md., on Sunday, when the Ravens began their rookie minicamp. Tucker was working out and practicing kicking at the Ravens' facility over the last couple of weeks.
Harbaugh was asked on Sunday how the team will handle the kicker competition between the veteran and the drafted rookie.
"Every decision we make has to be based on football," Harbaugh said. "There's a lot of layers to that. You've got a rookie kicker and here you took him in the sixth round, early in the sixth round. He's a talented guy. Just from a football standpoint -- salary cap, all the different things that you just take into consideration -- whatever we decide to do over the next few weeks will be based on football."
Baltimore could gain $4.2 million in salary cap space this year, ESPN reported, if Tucker is designated as a post-June 1 cut, which splits $7.5 million in dead money over two seasons.
Tucker, an undrafted free agent out of Texas in 2012, has become the league's all-time leader in field-goal accuracy, making 89.1 percent of his kicks. But he made a career-low 73.3 percent (22 of 30) last season and was just 11 of 19 from 40 or more yards.

Report: Michael Strahan seeking Giants ownership stake
Strahan has reportedly teamed up with billionaire Marc Lasry to potentially purchase a piece of the up to 10 percent of the Giants that is up for sale.
The current owners, the Mara and Tisch families, hired a banker in February to reportedly explore finding two or three wealthy individuals or families, as opposed to private equity, to buy a non-controlling stake in the team.
Strahan's former teammate, Eli Manning, reportedly discussed joining the group but ultimately cited conflicts with his other business holdings.
Strahan played his entire 15-year career as a defensive end with the Giants, compiling 854 tackles and 141.5 sacks on his way to two Super Bowl appearances, including a win in 2008 in his final NFL game.
The 53-year-old has had a successful entertainment career since his playing years came to a close. He currently serves as a co-host on ABC's "Good Morning America" and is a football analyst on Fox NFL Sunday.

Report: Rams finalize new contract with QB Matthew Stafford
In February, the Rams and Stafford reached agreement on a restructured deal that keeps him in Los Angeles. No financial figures were released at the time, with the new deal now set to proceed year by year, according to the report.
If Stafford is locked in as a member of the Rams at the start of free agency in 2026, he will make another $40 million.
During the offseason, the Rams gave Stafford's camp permission to contact other teams to assess his market value. He had two years left on his deal with a salary of $27 million in 2025 and only $4 million guaranteed. By base salary -- $23 million -- Stafford was No. 8 in the NFL, using current salary information.
The new deal means Stafford can make $84 million over the next two seasons rather than a combined $58 million through the previous deal.
The New York Giants and Las Vegas Raiders gave details of a potential contract offer to Stafford's representatives this past winter, with each team thinking a two-year deal with guaranteed money of between $90 million and $100 million was in the ballpark, The Athletic reported at the time.
Stafford is among the league's statistical greats, ranked 10th all-time in career passing yards (59,809) and touchdown passes (377), and ninth in both pass completions and attempts. He's 5-2 with the Rams in the playoffs, including a victory in Super Bowl LVI in 2022, after going 0-3 in the postseason over his 12 seasons in Detroit.

Jon Gruden joins arena team's ownership group
Gruden, 61, will have "consulting and advisory roles in all aspects of the team's football and business operations," the team said.
Former Tennessee Titans coach Jeff Fisher holds a majority stake in the team and is the league's commissioner.
"The Nashville Kats and the Arena Football 1 league are very excited to have someone with Jon's experience and expertise and success to not only be part of the ownership but also take an active role in a variety of ways within the organization," Fisher said.
Gruden compiled a 117-112 record as a head coach over parts of 15 NFL seasons with the Oakland/Las Vegas Raiders (1998-2001, 2018-21) and Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2002-08). He led the Bucs to a Super Bowl XXXVII championship in his first season there and was inducted into the team's Ring of Honor
"I have been a fan of indoor football for a long time and jumped at the opportunity to be involved with Jeff and the Nashville Kats as part of the ownership group," Gruden said. "I have so much respect for what Jeff has done over his career and continues to do with the Nashville Kats and as commissioner of AF1. I'm excited to be part of the team."
The Kats (3-2) have won their last three games under head coach and general manager Darren Arbet.

Washington, D.C., to host 2027 NFL Draft
President Donald Trump announced the news on Monday afternoon in the Oval Office of the White House, with NFL commissioner Roger Goodell, Washington Commanders managing partner Josh Harris and Washington D.C. mayor Muriel Bowser in attendance.
The three-day event will be held at the National Mall and Pennsylvania Avenue.
"We think it's going to be a great site. ... We are happy to be coming back home," Trump said.
Goodell and Harris each stated that they expect as many as 1 million people to attend the event.
Washington will be a first-time host since the NFL began rotating the sites from New York in 2015.
The annual spring draft is scheduled for Pittsburgh in 2026.
"The NFL Draft has become a marquee event, uniting fans across the country and around the world," Goodell said. "We are excited to bring the 2027 Draft to Washington, D.C., a city rich in history and national pride. With the support of President Trump, the Commanders, Events DC, and Mayor Bowser we're looking forward to delivering an unforgettable experience as we celebrate the next generation of NFL stars."
The 2024 draft in Detroit drew a record crowd of 775,000 fans over three days, with an estimated 600,000 attending last month's three-day draft in Green Bay, Wis.
"The NFL Draft is one of the biggest moments in sports -- and we're incredibly proud to help bring it to Washington, D.C.," Harris said. "It will bring hundreds of thousands of visitors, millions of viewers around the world, and generate jobs, tax revenue, and meaningful economic impact across the city.
"The Draft is a powerful reminder of how sports bring people together -- and we're honored to play a role in that. Since we started this journey less than two years ago, we've seen an NFC Championship Game, an agreement to return to RFK, and now the NFL draft in Washington. Thank you to President Trump for your leadership, to Mayor Bowser for your partnership, and to Commissioner Roger Goodell for your support in bringing the Draft back to the nation's capital.
"We look forward to welcoming the football world to Washington in 2027. Today is a great day for the DMV, and I can't wait to see what the future brings."
