Cal Raleigh went 2-for-3 with a double and three RBIs and Josh Naylor had two hits, including a double, and two RBIs as the Seattle Mariners salvaged the finale of their three-game series with the Los Angeles Angels with a 7-2 victory Wednesday night in Anaheim, Calif.
Randy Arozarena had a single and scored three runs and Julio Rodriguez doubled and had two hits for Seattle (71-82). Carlos Vargas (1-0) earned the win, striking out three and allowing one hit in 1 1/3 scoreless innings of relief.
Denzer Guzman went 4-for-5 with a run and Zach Neto and Moises Ballesteros each had two hits for Los Angeles (58-94), which finished with 14 men left on base.
Yusei Kikuchi (1-6) suffered the loss, allowing five runs (four earned) on five hits in 4 1/3 innings. He walked five and struck out four.
Seattle jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first. J.P. Crawford and Arozarena singled to open the game, then Dominic Canzone walked to load the bases with no outs. Raleigh drove in Crawford with a sacrifice fly, and one out later, Naylor singled in Arozarena.
Los Angeles also loaded the bases with no outs in the bottom of the first but managed just one run on a sacrifice fly by Vaughn Grissom, driving in Neto, who had walked.
The Angels tied it at 2-2 in the second when Guzman led off with a single, advanced to second on a bunt single by Josh Lowe and scored on a one-out single by Adam Frazier.
The Mariners scored three runs on just one hit in the fifth to take a 5-2 lead. Arozarena and Canzone both walked with one out and Raleigh followed with a double, driving in Arozarena. After Rodriguez was intentionally walked to load the bases, Naylor hit a potential double-play ball to Grissom but the first baseman’s throw to second sailed into left field, allowing Canzone and Raleigh to score.
Seattle added a pair of insurance runs in the sixth on consecutive RBI singles by Canzone and Raleigh off reliever Sammy Peralta.
