Pablo Pozos goal in the 92nd minute pushes the Boys in Black to a 2-1 victory
HIGHLIGHTS: FC Tucson 2, Capo FC 1
TUCSON — West Virginia rising senior Pablo Pozos knocked home a pass from Hayato Takayama in the 2nd minute of a 5-minute 2nd half stoppage time period to give FC Tucson a 2-1 win Friday night over visiting Capo FC, keeping the USL League 2 side’s playoff hopes alive for at least another 24 hours.
Fitting it was the Spaniard, on a day when his native country advanced to the World Cup semifinal with a 2-1 win over Belgium, who became Tucson’s hero in a desperate must-win regular-season finale.
The result for FC Tucson (6-2-4, 22 pts.) pushed the club into the second-place post-season position in Southwest Division. FCT can hold that spot if Redlands FC (6-2-3, 21 points) loses or ties in their regular season finale on Saturday night against 1st place Ventura County Fusion (8-0-3, 27 points).
FC Tucson holds the tiebreaker over Redlands FC by virtue of their 1-0 win in a head-to-head meeting to begin the league season back on May 23.

FCT held off a final charge by Capo FC to tie the game. Goalkeeper Matheus Rorhmens made a two-hand save near the left post and center back Mateo Soto kicked out a rebound attempt as the clock expired.
The match was scoreless at the intermission. Striker Tyler Ware gave FC Tucson the lead three minutes into the second half on a penalty kick.
Capo FC found the equalizer in the 66th minute as Max Mair pounded home a rebound shot off the right post.
The victory stretched FC Tucson home unbeaten streak to 18 matches (15-wins & 3-draws).
FCT has reached the post-season in eight of the side’s 10 seasons competing in USL League Two and the prior Premier Development League, reaching the national semifinals in 2025.
