Former Wildcats scores 19 points in a 90-65 victory for the Cyclones
HIGHLIGHTS: Iowa State 90, Arizona 65
AMES (IA) — It wasn’t a 40-piece but it was still effective.
One-time Arizona guard Jada Williams, in her 1st meeting against her former program, knocked down 8-of-11 shots and finished with 19 points as the Cyclones won a second consecutive game, beating the visiting Wildcats 90-65 at Hilton Coliseum.
Williams, who started for two seasons at UA under former head coach Adia Barnes, was coming off a 44-point performance earlier this week in a win for Iowa State over Cincinnati that helped the Cyclones (16-5, 4-5) snap a five-game losing streak.
She finished with seven assists and seven turnovers. Iowa State star forward Audi Crooks had 17 points.
Arizona battled through extensive foul trouble Saturday afternoon, ultimately playing the final 2:40 with just four players on the floor.
The Wildcats had five players foul out in the contest, including Molly Ladwig, Kamryn Kitchen, Achol Magot, Nora Francois and Noelani Cornfield.
Cornfield led Arizona with 19 points.
Arizona (10-9, 1-7) heads to in-state rival Arizona State Wednesday, January 28th with tip-off scheduled for 6:30 MST. You can hear the game on Freedom 1400 KTUC with coverage beginning at 6:15.
