White leads Arizona Baseball to Big 12 Final

Mason White homered twice and drove in 6 as UA takes down top seed West Virginia

HIGHLIGHTS: Arizona 12, West Virginia 1

ARLINGTON (TX) – Arizona Baseball powered by herculean efforts by Mason White and Raul Garayzar, dismantled the West Virginia Mountaineers for a 12-1 victory in the Big 12 Championship semifinals on Friday evening at Globe Life Field.

With the win Arizona (38-18) advances to their third consecutive conference tournament championship. UA will face the 3-seed TCU Horned Frogs on Saturday night for the championship and NCAA Tournament automatic bid.

White posted one of the most dominant performances of his storied career at the plate, going 4-for-4 with four runs scored, one double, two home runs, six RBI, and a pair of walks.

Garayzar (2-0) earned the start on the mound and posted six scoreless innings for Arizona. The right-hander allowed just six hits, all singles, and struck out three to earn the win.

The Horned Frogs (39-17) in turn blew out Kansas 11-1 to reach the championship game.

Smith Bailey (2-3, 4.52) will start on the mound for Arizona against Texas Christian’s Nate Stern (3-1, 1.53).
