ORO VALLEY — Meeting No. 5 between Southern Arizona Conference 4A rivals Mica Mountain and Canyon del Oro looked a lot like meeting No. 4 last season.
Riley Carson took the opening kickoff back for a touchdown and the Thunderbolts dominated the Dorados on their homefield winning 37-7.
Mica Mountain and CDO are the last two 4A champions. The Dorados won the title in 2023 and the Thunderbolts took home their first state championship last season.
MMHS now leads this young series 3-2. Canyon del Oro beat the Thunderbolts twice in 2023 including in the state semifinals.
