Cats can’t scratch all the way back from four-point 2nd quarter Big 12-opening loss
HIGHLIGHTS: Utah 63, Arizona 62
TUCSON — Utah opened Big 12 play with a 63–62 win over Arizona on Monday afternoon at McKale Center.
The Wildcats (9–3, 0–1 Big 12) erased an 18-point deficit in the second half and had a chance to tie or take the lead in the final seconds, but Utah (10–3, 1–0 Big 12) held on to secure the victory.
UA dug themselves a hole scoring just four points in the second quarter as the Wildcats missed 11 straight shots over an eight-minute stretch of the game.
Utah was led by Lani White with 26 points. Reese Ross added 10 points and 14 rebounds.
Mickayla Perdue led Arizona with 16 points. Noelani Cornfield finished with 11 points and 10 assists, and Tanyuel Welch added 11 points and seven rebounds.
Arizona continues Big 12 play with their first road test of the season at Colorado on Dec. 31st.
