Tigers win 24-3 over Dorados to open 5A Sonoran play

MARANA — Colten Meyer threw a pair of touchdown passes as Marana opened Conference 5A Sonoran Region play with a 24-3 home win over Canyon del Oro.
The Tigers (3-1, 1-0) are the defending 5A Sonoran Champions. CDO (2-2, 0-1) is playing their first season in Conference 5A after winning the 4A state championship in 2023.
The region this season also includes Casa Grande, Vista Grande, Ironwood Ridge, Buena and Tucson.
Meyer found Jaxson Sharp and Remy McKinnon for touchdowns. Sean Roebuck also ran for a score. Lucas Delgado booted an early field goal to give the Tigers a 3-0 lead.
Reece Douglas’ 46-yard field goal provided the lone points for the Dorados.
Marana won for the 4th time in five meetings with Canyon del Oro after the Dorados won the 1st 13 times the two teams faced each other.
