Trojans win for alum Virgil Henderson is his coaching return
TUCSON — Levi Samuels ran for a pair of touchdowns Friday night as Catalina started the Virgil Henderson Era with a resounding 36-6 road win over Santa Rita.
Samuels, a senior running back, scored on runs of 10 and 13 yards and finished with over 100 yards rushing on the night.
Henderson, a Trojan alum, is back at his alma mater to try and recreate some of the magic he helped create for the program in the 1980s.
Aryan Holmes also scored a pair of touchdowns for Catalina who fielded just 17 eligible players for the game.
The Eagles (0-1) lone trip to the end zone came on an 11-yard touchdown pass from Daniel Balbueno-Townsend to Omar Wright II.
