Cats head to Oregon for NCAA Baseball tournament

Former Pac-12 rival Ducks stand in the way on UA’s Road to Omaha

TUCSON, Ariz. — Arizona Baseball, owners of the Big 12 Conference’s automatic bid, heard their names called during the NCAA Selection Show on Monday morning and will begin their 2025 postseason journey in the Eugene Regional. There they will face host Oregon, Cal Poly, and Utah Valley.

Arizona (39-18) will open play at the Eugene Regional against the Cal Poly Mustangs (41-17) on Friday, May 30 at 1:00 p.m. MST.

This marks the 44th NCAA Tournament selection in program history, the sixth most in the nation. It is also the fifth consecutive year the Wildcats will be participating in the NCAA Tournament, the second-longest streak in program history.

The Mustangs finished 2nd to UC Irvine during the Big West regular season but beat the Anteaters in the conference tournament championship.

Friday’s game can be heard on Wildcats Radio 1290. The Voice of the Wildcats Brian Jeffries will be on the call with coverage beginning at 12:50 p.m. Tucson time. The game will be televised on ESPN+.

Host Oregon is the No. 12 national seed. The Ducks (42-14) shared the Big-10 regular season title with fellow Pac-12 defector UCLA. Both schools lost to Nebraska, winner of the conference post-season tournament.

Utah Valley (32-27) winner of the WAC Tournament is the 4th seed in Eugene.
