The pregame show makes a trip to Vail for some Thursday Night Football
VAIL — Empire put up their first winning football season since 2017 in 2023 when the Ravens finished 6-4 and 5-1 in the 4A Gila Region to share the title with Amphitheater and Douglas.
None of the three made the Conference 4A playoffs however and the Ravens will be looking to build on that in 2024.
They started the season on a positive foot Thursday night with a 14-7 win over Phoenix Sierra Linda.
Ngonkra Fuangunyi ran for 209 yards and a touchdown to compliment a defense that forced four turnovers.
Wildcats Radio 1290 took the road show to Vail last week to meet the Ravens.
On a doubleheader night, the Empire volleyball team also came up with a victory at home shutting out Tanque Vere 3-0.
The Ravens are also coming off a third state championship in softball in 2024.
Valeria Montano-Valencia (Cheer), Mariah Fisher (Softball), Abby Zsitvay (softball), Gabriana Brooks (softball), Lizzy Turner (volleyball/softball), Donovan Davidson (track), Jacob Stark (track), Khari Gurley (track), Johani Capuchino, Fuangunyi and head coaches Danny Arias (girls volleyball), George Kelly (football) and athletics director James Sye all stopped by D.K. on the Sports Tip to show their Ravens spirit and talk about this new athletics campaign.
