Trojans knocked down 11 threes to knock out Arizona

LOS ANGELES (CA) — USC star JuJu Watkins scored 32 points Monday night including going 12-for-12 from the free throw line as the 10th ranked Trojans dispatched of visiting Arizona 81-64 at the Galen Center.

The Wildcats led by five midway through the second quarter after a layup by Breya Cunningham and a three-pointer from Skylar Jones. USC though would finish the first half with a 17-8 run to take the lead for good.

UA had another poor third quarter as they were outscored by the Trojans 23-11.

Arizona finished with four players in double-figures led by 13 a piece from Jones and Esmery Martinez. Kailyn Gilbert had 11 but missed 10 of her 14 shots from the floor. Jada Williams added 10 for the Wildcats.

The victory allowed Southern California (18-4, 8-4) to keep pace with rival UCLA for 4th place in the Pac-12 and a first round bye in the Pac-12 Tournament.

Stanford, Colorado and Oregon State currently hold the top 3 spots in conference-play.

Kayla Padilla scored 15 points and dished out seven assists for the Trojans. She made five of USC’s 11 three-points on 22 attempts. Rayah Marshall had 12 points and 10 rebounds.

UA (12-12, 4-8) comes home this weekend to face the Washington schools on Friday and Sunday beginning with the Cougars at 6:30.
