WOMEN: Gilbert returns for UA but No. 9 UCLA holds off Cats in Westwood

Kailyn Gilbert was back after three games missed by the Bruins hold off Arizona 66-58

LOS ANGELES — Gabriela Jacquez scored 21 points to lead No. 9 UCLA to a 66-58 victory over Arizona Friday night at Pauley Pavilion in Westwood.

Kiki Rice added 20 for the Bruins.

The good news for the Wildcats was the return of star sophomore guard Kailyn Gilbert who was back in the lineup after missing three games due to an undisclosed injury. Gilbert scored 14 points in 15 minutes.

Esmery Martinez led UA with 15 points. The Wildcats squandered numerous chances in the second half, shooting just 27% (7/26) from the floor.

Arizona (12-11, 4-7) will have two days off on the west coast before they play at USC (17-4, 7-4) on Monday night in a game that will tipoff at 7 p.m.
