Roadrunners get an MLK Day win in home return

After a 2-3 road trip, Tucson returns to TCC with a 3-1 victory over Iowa

TUCSON – Tucson goaltender Matthew Villalta stopped 12 shots in the first period and went on to finish with 29 saves as the Roadrunners returned from their five-game road trip with a 3-1 victory over visiting Iowa.

Villalta was recently selected to as an AHL All-Star.

Josh Doan scored a pair of second period goals (14, 15) to pace Tucson.

The Roadrunners (22-11-1-1) went 2-3 on their recent trek to San Jose, Chicago and Abottsford.

Tucson is now just one point out of the top spot in the Pacific Division and will play the Wild at the Tucson Arena again on Wednesday, January 17th (6:30 p.m.) before hosting the Henderson Silver Knights on Friday and Saturday.
