TUCSON — The Glendale Gauchos twice rallied from a goal down Wednesday night and then shutout the Pima Aztecs in overtime and penalty kicks to win on Aztec Field and advance to the NJCAA Division II Region I championship.

The No. 1 seeded Aztecs fell to the No. 4 Gauchos 2-2 (Glendale wins penalty kicks 3-0).

Stetson Milligan (Cienega HS) and sophomore Daniel Ehler (Marana HS) scored the goals in regulation for the Aztecs.

Milligan, freshman Brandon Sanchez (Canyon del Oro HS), and sophomores Victor Loredo (Metro Tech) could not convert on their penalty kicks while the Gauchos made their attempts to win it and advance.

Sophomore James Lynch (Salpointe Catholic HS) finished the game with seven saves.

The Aztecs (12-2-1) now await word if they qualify for the NJCAA Division II National Tournament with an at-large bid. The tournament will be held in Tucson (Nov. 12-18) for a second straight year.
