Kailyn Gilbert scored 24 points in an easy 45-point home win for Arizona

Kailyn Gilbert (15) stuffed the stat sheet in her 1st game of 2023-24 with 24 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 steals.

TUCSON – Kailyn Gilbert led all scorers with 24 points on 10-of-18 shooting Tuesday night as Arizona easily won their opening exhibition game 103-58 over West Texas A&M at McKale Center.

UA had five players score in double figures. Helena Pueyo was the other member of the squad to hit the 20-point threshold, tallying 20 points that included four made three-pointers.

Gilbert added seven rebounds, five assists and five steals to her stat line. She tied with Esmery Martinez as the squad’s leading rebounder.

Martinez scored 18 points, Maya Nnaji added 15. Salimatou Kouroma finished with 14.

The Wildcats opened up the game with a 17-0 run in the first quarter.

UA will play in their final exhibition of the season at home on Wednesday, Nov. 1 at 6:00 p.m. against Point Loma.
