Tucson is now 3-1 to start the AHL season

HIGHLIGHTS: Roadrunners 2, San Diego 1

TUCSON — The high-pitched cheering ringing from the rafters of the Tucson Arena was enough to give an edge to the Tucson Roadrunners in Tuesday morning’s Kids School Day game against San Diego.

The Roadrunners defeated the Gulls by a final score of 2-1 before 4,341 fans in a crowd made up mostly of K-8 students from Pima County Schools.

Tucson forward Hunter Drew, a former San Diego Gull, scored one of Tucson’s two goals. Dylan Guenther added the second to break a 1-1 tie early in the 3rd period.

Matthew Villalta was phenomenal in the net stopping 22-of-23 shots in the contest.
