Arizona Soccer falls in road friendly

TUCSON (KCUB) — Sami Baytosh scored Arizona’s lone goal in the 65th minute as the Wildcats fell 2-1 Thursday afternoon in a pre-season friendly against Pepperdine in Malibu, California.

Brooke Ahern assisted on the goal for UA.

Kelsey Adams and Skylar Enge scored 1st half goals to stake the Waves to a quick 2-0 advantage.

The 2023 season marks the 30th in Arizona Soccer history and the third under coach Becca Moros. The Wildcats roster features 23 returning players from a year ago in addition to seven freshmen and one transfer.

Goalkeeper Hope Hisey leads the pack of returning Cats. Hisey was a first team All-Pac-12 honoree in 2022. She enters the season 5th all-time in program history in saves (289).

UA opens the 2023 regular season on Thursday August 17 on the road at future Big-12 rival Iowa State.

The Wildcats first home match will be the following Thursday, August 24 against Grand Canyon.
