Coastal Carolina guard DeVante’ Jones, the 2020-21 Sun Belt Conference Player of the Year, announced Saturday he is transferring to Michigan.
The 6-foot-1, 200-pound junior averaged 19.3 points, 7.2 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 2.8 steals in 26 starts for the Chanticleers this past season.
He chose coach Juwan Howard’s Wolverines over Texas, Texas Tech and Memphis but also said he will continue “testing the NBA waters.”
“This whole process was a blessing man, all my hard work slowly paying off & I’m nowhere near close to letting up! with that being said i will be attending the University of Michigan for my last year,” he posted on Twitter.
Jones started 77 of his 81 games over three seasons at Coastal Carolina, averaging 17.0 points, 5.7 rebounds, 4.2 assists and 2.0 steals. He shot 33.4 percent from 3-point range and 85.5 percent from the free throw line.
